::Team Jasper:: FEARnet interview with Jackson Rathbone

With the opening weekend for Dread, the 100 Monkeys' tour and his part in The Last Airbender, it seems Jackson Rathbone is the 'it' guy at the moment. He, of course, has always been the 'it' guy for me, but you all know that.

FEARnet hooked up with Jackson at one of the 100 Monkeys' shows and asked him a few questions about Eclipse & his work with Catalina Sandino Moreno, who plays Maria in Eclipse. Also, he touches on the subject of the 100 Monkeys' tour possibly going international.

FEARnet: In The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, you get to work with Catalina Sandino Moreno…

Ah man, Catalina. That was amazing, working with her. I was a huge fan of Maria, Full of Grace and she was lovely to work with.

We'll finally get to learn a little bit more about your character, Jasper Hale. What we can expect to see from Jasper's flashbacks and your scenes with Catalina?

Jasper's back story is that he was turned into a vampire during the Civil War era, so I got to don the Civil War regalia and ride a horse again -- I haven't been on a horse in like two years, so that was really fun. Basically, that's how I meet Maria, who's played by Catalina. Maria turns Jasper in order to make him the leader, or trainer, of the army that she needs in the South. Vampire armies are very prevalent in the South in those days. You'll get to see a lot of deadly training vampire scenes, and a little bit of the love-lust relationship between Jasper and Maria and how it doesn't really pan out.

Sounds like the type of turning scene your fans are going to love seeing. From the books and films, we know that vampires are turned with bites in various places; we've seen Carlisle, for example, bite Esme rather romantically on the neck to change her. So… can you tell us where exactly Maria bites Jasper?

Where does she bite him? Well, I don't want to give everything away. I've got to keep some little secrets. [Laughs] I think people are going to be pretty happy about it.

Fair enough! Were there any particularly funny moments you had while filming Eclipse?

You know, whenever you get into these fight scenes it gets a little funny because you're going after each other, and we've all been such good friends for three years now, so throwing a punch at your friend is kind of weird. Jasper has to train the Cullen family, so it was weird… I didn't want to throw punches at Nikki Reed or Ashley [Greene]! It just didn't feel right to me to hit a girl. I was raised very Southern, and that's very wrong where I come from.

Switching gears to your musical interests, do you and 100 Monkeys have any plans to tour outside of the U.S.?

I think we are [but] I don’t know how soon. We have the rest of our dates that are posted on our website, but we're going to try and get out to the U.K., and we really want to get down to Australia and South America. It's just about finding the right time; hopefully we'll get down there as soon as possible.

::Team Twilight:: Fan Fiction Friday - Interview with Author, Morgan Locklear of Bella Voce

Hello to all you sparkly readers, as promised we have an exclusive interview with one of the male authors of the Twi-vers on Fan Fiction Friday. The gracious & talented author of Bella Voce, Morgan Locklear was kind enough to answer a few questions for our readers.

Morgan told us how he came to read the Twilight Series, what inspired him to begin writing Fan Fiction, what his lovely wife thinks of his writing & we even found out what Team he is on.

DCLS: Why did you read the Twilight series?
MOG: I was nine chapters into writing a zombie book (in first person)and my wife suggested that I pick up Twilight because it was also written in first person. She knew that I was unsure of my writing 'voice' and she thought I might find inspiration. I read all four books in about three weeks and haven't touched the zombie project since in favor of story idea I had for Edward and Bella in the late 1800's. (Bella Voce)

DCLS: What did you think of the series after you read it?
MOG: I spent the first three books wishing that Bella would stop bitching about becoming a vampire and the last one wondering why the hell he did it. I enjoyed them but it was the characters that drew me further and further into the narrative.

DCLS: What Team are you on?
MOG: I like that Edward and Bella ended up together, but I would have to classify myself as Team Carlisle.

DCLS: Why did you start writing Twi-Fic?
MOG: I was looking for advice on writing, and Jennifer said that dozens of people would read and critique my work so I could improve.

DCLS: What does your wife & beta think of you writing Twi-Fic?
MOG: Jennifer always thought that I should go for it as long as it was quality work. Since she is my Beta, she is now in charge of the quality control and keeps me focused on emotion and description. She has also helped me outline the whole story and it's eventual end.

DCLS: Will you continue with the Twi-verse and why?
MOG: I will continue as long as someone is reading, and I have years to go on this story and it's potential offspring.

In closing Morgan said, "Thank you for including me, I know that the novelty of being a male is worth a peek but I am thrilled to see that the fandom has stayed with me because of the quality of the writing and not just because I have a pee pee. This story appeals to some people because it's funny while others really like the sweet romance and the fact that Jacob is a good guy in this one. Other people really like the historical refrences or the old school vampire lore. Others still like that I have written origional music for the story and included links to the songs therein. Is short, I write like I drive, fast and crooked."

I must add that Bella Voce is a beautifully written story that is captivating & takes you to a time of mystery & romance. I absolutely adore this Fic & bite my nails waiting for the next update. The music is lovely & is truly inspired by the story.

Thank you so much Morgan for taking the time to answer our questions. I hope that with this piece we'll get you even more readers & that you will be happy with our recommendation. Send our love to Jennifer & thank her from us for getting you to write...we love your work!

::Team Breaking Dawn:: A 4th Director's Name Surfaces on the short list.

I wouldn't exactly call Stephen Daldry an "auteur" considering he's only directed three not-terribly-distinctive Best Picture nominees, but he's certainly a more distinguished filmmaker than the "Twilight" series deserves.
According to the L.A. Times, Daldry has joined the list of prestigious contenders to direct "Breaking Dawn," signaling that Summit is serious about its high-brow intentions for the fourth film in the franchise. "Breaking Dawn" will be split into two movies, with the first film likely shooting this fall.
Sofia Coppola, Bill Condon and actual auteur Gus Van Sant have all been recently approached to direct. None of the filmmakers, including Daldry, have indicated they would actually accept the gig should it be officially offered to them.
At this rate, twice-nominated auteur Quentin Tarantino will wind up directing "Breaking Dawn," since Summit seems to have its eye on every filmmaker ranging between reigning Best Director Kathryn Bigelow and, uh, Uwe Boll.
David Slade, who the L.A. Times also refers to as an auteur (easy there guys!), directs the third film, "Eclipse," which will surely 'eclipse' everything at the box office when it opens on June 30.
Daldry is no stranger to "Twilight's" themes of forbidden love and family alienation, having previously directed "Billy Elliot," "The Hours" and "The Reader," all of which earned him nominations for Best Director. Summit's creative stance is certainly encouraging, but I'm not sure why Daldry would join this franchise and thereby submit to the whims and demands of millions of teenage female Twi-hards.
"Breaking Dawn" finds Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) giving birth to a half-human/half-vampire child named Renesmee who grows faster than mortal humans and is also able to communicate some kind of special way... kind of like Twitter users.

::Team Twilight:: Fan Fiction Friday!

 Blog post by Cullen Sister

Hello my lovely sparkly ones!

Has everyone recuperated from New Moon-itis? Personally, I am still suffering since my mailman took much too long to deliver my dvd.

In honor of our first male member here at The Love Shack, we have decided to review stories by male authors. Okay, so we only found two, but we did manage to get an interview with one of them just for you, my lovelies. That will follow tomorrow in another posting. We don't want to tear you away from your dvds for too long. New Moon withdrawal is a terribly painful disease and is not easily cured.

So sit back, read on and enjoy!

Our first author has a very tongue in cheek sense of humor. I mean, seriously, just look at his name.....wantmywifeback. He has written a series of one shots that make you wonder if he's just being silly or taking a shot at us. In my opinion, it doesn't matter. I laughed out loud while reading them...loud enough to startle the cat! His profile page had me holding my stomach and wiping the tears from my eyes. At most, it's 30 minutes out of your day. I highly suggest giving it a look-see.

The author has suffered the fate that many men in this country have. His wife read the Twilight saga and hasn't been seen since. His profile details his plight. His one shots are just plain goofy. It should be mentioned to read the one shots in date order, starting with the oldest first.

The author seems to have dropped off the face of the planet since this first appeared. One theory is that he got his wife back. Another is what he wrote about going to Haiti. A third could be based on the alleged sighting of Felix and Demetri in the area shortly beforehand. Being loyal Twi-hards, we know what happens when you anger the Volturri. Dun dun DUNH!!!

We'll see you back here tomorrow for the author interview. Now, back to your regular viewing of NEW MOON!

::Team Jasper:: MTV's Hollywood Crush Interview with Jackson Rathbone

If you're dieing to see some fight scenes in the next Eclipse trailer, you're not alone. Jackson Rathbone spoke to MTV's Hollywood Crush about Eclipse and is hoping the next trailer shows more vampires battling it out.

Jackson told Hollywood Crush, "There are some really cool action scenes, we worked with some amazing stunt men and women who were so incredible and just a lot of fun to work with and collaborate with. They taught me a lot. So I hope to see a lot more of the action [in the next 'Eclipse' trailer].

As we all know, Jasper Hale's character is explored in Eclipse and we get to see more about his background in the film and yes, I am dieing to see that boy in uniform! Jackson talks about what we will get to see of Jasper in the movie, "I'm excited for a step up with Jasper's character, It's been two, three years and now I get to kind of go outside and show a little bit more of what makes Jasper tick. We get to go into his back story — see where he came from, who he was before, what makes him who we see in the first film of 'Twilight,' what makes him seem like he's always in pain, why he's always in pain ... because he is."

He is asked by HC why Jasper is in angony & Jackson replied, "He's almost depressed, he wants to live a good life. He wants to be part of the Cullen family. He is the newest to this vegetarian vampire way of life, and he's still trying to be part of that and address his inner demons and what he used to be. It was really fun to be able to express that."

Jackson credits director David Slade, whom he called "amazing," with helping to show how Jasper evolved into his present self. "I've always been a fan of his, especially his first film, 'Hard Candy.' I thought he did an incredible job with '30 Days of Night,' so when I first got there, I talked his ear off about '30 Days of Night' and how he got a couple of shots and all that."

Some of Jackson's favorite scenes to film were the ones that explore Jasper's origins. "Whenever we got to go into Jasper's back story," he said, "I got to don the Civil War regalia and ride a horse. It had been years since I'd been on a horse, so it was fun. I used to ride when I was in Texas."

Hollywood Crush goes on to say, that according to some folks in the know (i.e. lucky people who have seen parts of the film), Jackson gives one of breakout performances in Eclipse. Jackson, however, brushed off the compliment, saying it was a little too soon to judge. Jackson's response to the compliment, "I'd say wait for the film before you compliment me"

::Team Twilight:: Exclusive interview with musician Lee Safar

Interview by: Kiva Johns-Adkins for TeamTwiPerv’s Bitch Blog

Photo by: Karem Nunez (March 2010)

Australian musician (and fellow Twi-girl) Lee Safar is about as independent as they come. She writes, merchandises and markets her own brand of music and her inspirational brand known as ‘Dream Angel’.

“My songs are about who I am,” Safar said. “I write them as they are happening. The tough part is saying what is going on with you.”

A former Barista in her native OZ, Safar has an obsession with coffee. “The only decent coffee in Los Angeles is Intelligencia,” Safar said from her temporary home on the West Coast.

Safar is in the U.S. for the next few months, focusing on her music full time. Last week she opened for the band MuteMath before the New Orleans Vampire Baseball game to benefit Haiti.

Her three best friends made the trip to the states with Safar in the beginning of March but returned to Australia after the New Orleans gig. She said she will miss them terribly but is completely focused on her music.

“It (music) becomes something that is your focus,” she said. “You don’t need food or to breathe. There isn’t anything more real than being honest.”

The honesty in her music spoke to the Twilight fan base that got behind her song and video ‘I Am Here’, which nearly made it onto the New Moon soundtrack. Hope is not lost for fans of music from the Twilight Saga. Safar hopes to make it onto the soundtrack of one of the two remaining films (see interview below).

One of the most unique things about Lee is her desire to remain unsigned by a major label because “it would disconnect me from the intimacy I have with my fans.” Safar often tweets with her fans via @leesafar on Twitter and realizes that where she is and where she is headed are tied to her devoted fan base.

She is equally passionate about them. “I want that personal touch. They (the fans) give so much to me,” she said. “A label would take it away.”

By remaining an independent artist in the truest sense, Safar can keep the cost of her music down for her fans. “Fans can support my music by buying it,” she said. “I am a full time musician and if the fans go to buy my new single from my page that money comes to me and I can use that money to record a new album.”

Safar already has the next album written and wants to get the word out to her fans that all the revenues she receives from iTunes purchases of her music will go directly to making that album become a reality.
“They (fans) honor me by taking the time to listen to my songs,” Safar said. “I want to know what they think of the Dream Angel podcasts so I can keep doing them and give them what they want.”
Safar took the time to talk about what inspires her, the “beauty” in Robert Pattinson’s voice when he sings and when she fell in love with Edward Cullen.

TTP
: When did you get your start in the music business and when did you become a full time musician?
LS: I wrote my first song about 6 years ago and became a full time musician only just recently. This is a tough game. I am still in the process of growing both my brands globally- Music and my inspirational brand 'Dream Angel' and I am doing it as an independent artist so that I can make sure that both me and my fans are best looked after. That is very important to me- making sure that we're both happy. Making sure that I'm around for a long time means that we're going to have to start pushing sales....Merchandise from the website, song downloads from my website & iTunes, ticket sales to gigs etc....all this goes to recording more music and being able to keep paying my band!

TTP: How many trips have you made to the states?
LS: This will be my 4th to the states. I absolutely love America. The culture here supports my way of thinking more than in Australia. People really want you to do well and they want to support you however they can.

TTP: How did you get involved with New Moon and trying to get on that soundtrack?
LS: That story involves the very lovely Stuart Henshall, someone who is now a dear friend of mine. It's such a beautiful story. Stu and I were staying with mutual friends in an apartment in London. We started talking about what Stu was trying to achieve having just graduated from college in PR. He felt frustrated and confused about the way ahead. He wanted to make headway in his career but didn't know how. We started speaking about my journey in music and my quest to live my dreams. A conversation that felt like it went for half an hour went on for 4 hours. I gave him a copy of my debut EP "Who I've Become" to listen to. He went into his room and woke up the next morning, after having listened to my CD obsessively all night, and said, "OMG this is amazing. We need to have this heard by the world. I'm going to take you to see something today. Have you seen 'Twilight'? Your music belongs in this franchise."We went that day and saw the movie and I was immediately obsessed.

The next day, Stu got in contact with Emma Clark (AKA @nuttymadam), a very popular "Twilight" vlogger in the UK and told her about me. Stu was working very hard at getting the word out to the Twifans about my music. We posted a vlog telling everyone that we were really excited about having a chance at maybe getting on the soundtrack. Emma Clark saw the blog and posted it to her channel. In 24 hours it had about 4,000 hits. Stu started asking Twifans which song of mine they thought would fit "New Moon" the best. I had "I'm Here" in mind and it turns out that they did, too. A few weeks later I headed to L.A. and met my now-L.A.-attorney, Michael Golland who got things rolling with Summit! It truly is the Dream Angel process at work!

TTP: Have you submitted anything for the Eclipse soundtrack and have you heard anything?
LS: I'd love to have something on either Eclipse on Breaking Dawn however my preference would be Breaking Dawn! I have some great ideas for songs on Eclipse but I'm more excited about an idea I have for Breaking Dawn!

TTP: Who was your musical inspiration?
LS: There are a few and they come from loads of different genres. As a kid I listened to what my mum listened to which was a lot of pop music- James Taylor, Carol King, the Bee Gee's, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder etc....when I was at school I listened to a lot of Alanis Morissette, Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Janet Jackson, PM Dawn, Arabic Music, and some totally cheesy pop that I'm not going to admit to in a million years!

TTP: What rocks your world right now? (music, movies, books, coffee ;) or peanut butter?
LS: TOTALLY PEANUT BUTTER!!! LOL you guys have the most interesting way of using it. My obsession with Peanut Butter isn't normal. It's kinda like blood is to Vampires- Once I have it I have to have soooooo much more!!!! LOL

Coffee is a big big deal to me because of how passionate I am about the coffee industry. I was lucky enough to live in a country that holds the profession of Barista in high regard and as such I was able to leave a corporate job to be follow my dream to be a highly skilled Barista. I have now left that world but my love and passion for it have not stopped. I intend on staying connected with the industry and do what I can to improve the profile of highly skilled barista's everywhere!

The music that is rocking my world right now is RnB & Hip Hop! Surprising I know, but recently 3 of my girlfriends from Sydney came with me to LA and we did a bunch of clubbing. The stuff that is out there at the moment is sick! Pushing so many boundaries with regards to the technology, and lyrically there are some boundaries being pushed also! LOVE IT!!!

TTP: I know we talked about it but I wanted to get it directly from you - when did you fall in love with Edward Cullen?
LS: OMG The moment he and Bella are up against the rocks is incredible.....DANG! I almost slide of my chair *blush

TTP: What do you think of Rob Pattinson's music and/or Kristen Stewart's performance in ‘The Runaways’ and singing on the soundtrack for the movie?
LS: I find Rob's music to be very raw and honest. I can hear a lot of vulnerability in it. He's not acting when he sings, you can hear how genuine he's being. It doesn't matter that he's not overly trained because the beauty in his voice is in the honesty of how he delivers the lyric. I haven't seen ‘The Runaways’ so I can't comment on Kristen's performance but I'm sure she did an amazing job.

::Team Eclipse:: Muse is back on the Eclipse Soundtrack!!!!!

Since A Twilight Saga movie without Muse is like Bella without Edward... we CERTAINLY hope this is true and Muse has reached an agreement with our "friends" at Scummit Entertainment.

 Via Twilightaholics:

That’s right you’re reading those words correctly, we have an exciting TA Exclusive for you! Although we heard the heartbreaking news earlier this month that Muse was not going to make an appearance on the Eclipse soundtrack, it turns out that may have all changed.

TA has a reporter who has been covering events down at the SXSW (South By Southwest) Festival in Austin, Texas all week. Well today that reporter happened to find themselves in conversation with informed sources from Chop Shop/Atlantic Records. The source has confirmed that Muse will indeed be on the Eclipse soundtrack.

I guess it makes sense that this would be the place that the label and the band could come together. Both Muse and Chop Shop were at SXSW this weekend, so maybe they were able to come to some kind of terms to work together again on Eclipse. So unless more changes between now and when the soundtrack comes out, we can celebrate. All I know is I want to sing from the rooftops now! Having just seen them in concert (go if you can!), I don’t think I’ll ever get enough Muse. Now all we need is official confirmation from Muse and Summit on this one!

::Team Edward:: Robert Pattinson autographed guitar up for auction on ebay

Seems that Rob has done it again, he shows his generosity when asked by the owner of Norman’s Rare Guitars in Tarzana, California to sign a Fender guitar he was looking at and playing so that it may later be auctioned off for The Midnight Mission.

The Midnight Mission is a charity, according to the auction, that provides an array of life changing services for homeless men, women and children. They include education, job training and placement, drug and alcohol treatment and referral services. Additionally, they provide basic subsistence services and transitional housing for families.

The auction description:

Brand new Fender Telecaster signed by ultra hot Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) from the Twilight movie series and Remember Me. Robert happened to shopping for instruments at Norm's Rare Guitars and Norm (a great friend of The Midnight Mission), asked him if he'd sign a guitar that could be auctioned off to support the services of the charity. Robert was gracious enough to say yes and do it. This terrifically talented actor and singer/musician even consented to have his picture taken with the signed instrument. I didn't post it here, but have it available for authentication (believe it or not this humble actor is bit camera shy when not at work). Get this now!! I have seen tons of signed pictures and posters, but not a Fender guitar. And as you real fans know, Robert is an excellent musician - he plays piano, guitar and sings! So it's a winner - a great and unique gift for you or someone you love and you help people who don't always feel loved. All proceeds from this sale will support the homeless men, women and children that the mission serves.

Now, the auction starting price is $3,100 and has no bids yet. I wonder how long that will last. You can can view the auction here.
