::Team Carlisle:: Peter Facinelli was painfully shy as a child.

NEW YORK — Early on in their careers, many actors question whether their dreams to be in show business are realistic goals. For Peter Facinelli, that internal struggle came when he was about eight.

"I was just really shy, and there was one part of my brain saying, 'You should go be an actor' and the other part of my brain going, 'You're really nuts because I can't even stand in the lunch line in school because I'm afraid of people,'" he recalls.
But his artistic side overtook his practical one. He ended up studying theater at New York University and now not only stars in the white-hot Twilight movie series, but has also won acclaim for his supporting role as Dr. Fitch Cooper in Showtime's Nurse Jackie.
The dark comedy was the most-watched new series in Showtime's history when it debuted last year. It airs at 9 p.m. Mondays.
"I'm a fan of the show. I love watching these characters and how they all interact ... and to see how they react off of each other, and how they get along and don't get along," Facinelli said.
Edie Falco stars as Nurse Jackie Peyton, a drug addict who is both unethical on the job and in her marriage. Facinelli's character, a young, Ivy League-educated "know-it-all," is somewhat smitten over his co-worker.
"He's kind of like the kid in third grade who has a crush on somebody, but it's not being reciprocated, so he's constantly pulling on her pigtails trying to get a reaction out of her," he said.
Facinelli, who plays the patriarch vampire clan leader Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the Twilight series, returns with the third installment, Eclipse, out June 30. Facinelli says Eclipse will be more action-based and will feature the Cullens in a different light.
"Usually, they're very buttoned-up and you know, always trying to appear human and be in control. And in this movie, we have this looming presence throughout the whole movie that's hard to stay in control all the time," he said.
With steady projects on his resume, Facinelli, 36, is capitalizing on his success by writing movies. He's penned the TV-film Mulligan, which will star is wife, former 90210 actress Jennie Garth. The movie air on the Hallmark Channel; no date has been set.
"I finished writing it and then she read it and said, 'Hey if you ever make this I want to play this.' And I said, 'We'll see. Maybe you'll come in and audition for it,'" Facinelli said with a laugh.
He also wrote and will star in the romantic comedy Loosies, about a pickpocket in New York who has commitment issues and learns from a one-night stand that he's a father-to-be.SOURCE

::Team Stephenie:: Fan reaction to new novella - not completely positive.

Hey Sparkly Ones,
I find this story a little disheartening. We should praise Stephenie for finishing a story she started a long time ago and to give it to us for free is a double bonus. We Twi-Hards are a bitchy bunch sometimes. I want to make a statement up front that the authors of The Love Shack WHOLEHEARTEDLY support Stephenie Meyer's creative endeavors no matter what they are. We also feel her anger and her pain for the leaked copy of Midnight Sun and completely understand why it hurts her to work on it.  We can wait for as long as it takes her pain to heal to finish that manuscript. We certainly wouldn't be so foolhardy as to demand anything of a woman who has given us such joy on a daily basis!!!!! We hope our Sparkly readers will get behind this and Stephenie and support her new project a million times over!!!!  WE LOVE YOU STEPHENIE!

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Amid the excitement over the announcement Tuesday morning (March 30) that Stephenie Meyer would be releasing a new "Twilight" novella, "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner," on June 5, some fans were upset that the book was not "Midnight Sun." Twilighters shared their opinions with MTV News on Twitter and in the comments, and their reactions ranged from understanding to angry.
"About 90 percent of the fandom is just excited to have anything," said Lori Joffs, co-creator of Twilight Lexicon. "It's the small little bit of about 10 percent of fans who are interested in another story. The story that must not be named."
The "Midnight Sun" controversy started back in August 2008 after half of the novel — a retelling of "Twilight" from Edward Cullen's perspective — leaked onto the Web. Meyer made a statement on her blog saying she felt personally violated by the fact her work was leaked and that the novel was put on hold indefinitely.
Amanda Bell of Twilight Examiner wasn't surprised by the "Midnight Sun" outcry after Meyer's latest book was announced.
"I found it surprising that people initially jumped onto that, but it wasn't a surprise that that's where people went eventually," Bell said. "I kind of expected the 'Midnight Sun' conversation to be rehashed by this news, but I didn't think it would be so immediate."
She said it's tricky, because while most fans understand where Meyer's frustrations came from, they still want the novel to be released as quickly as possible. Fans have been expecting either "Midnight Sun" or the official guide to "The Twilight Saga" to be the next book Meyer released.
But Joffs felt fans weren't reading Meyer's post about the novella closely enough, or they would have seen that Meyer had been working on this story since she first finished writing "Eclipse" many years ago. "The Short Second Life" was written to be included in the "Twilight Saga" companion but had grown too large, and the publisher decided to put it out in conjunction with the film.
"I think that that's where fans are getting upset, because it looks like Stephenie has abandoned writing anything else to write about Bree, and I don't think that's what happened at all," Joffs explained.
This isn't the first time fans have initially been against a decision in the "Twilight" universe. When Robert Pattinson was first cast as Edward Cullen, fans were outraged, but now he is a global heartthrob who can't walk down the street without women screaming at him. Bell said she wouldn't be surprised if "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" followed the same journey.
"This is work by this author about this series that we're all in love with," Bell explained. "People are going to gravitate towards being totally hyped up about it. It's going to be a big deal, for sure."
For Bell, Bree Tanner was a character she had always been interested in. While some fans were confused as to why a character that only appeared for 10 pages in "Eclipse" would be the subject of her own 192-page novella, it made sense to Bell from the beginning.
"While reading the 'Twilight' series, you think that the Cullen family has really good perception of people, and so it was interesting to see that they were kind of willing to take [Tanner] under their wing," Bell said. "There was a reason for that, and I was always curious to know more about her."
Joffs said she empathized with fans dying for a full version of "Midnight Sun," but she saw the publication of "The Short Second Life"' only as a positive. "If this is what it takes — if publishing another novel, another little novella, another side of the story — to get her writing again and to get her back into publication again, I will take it. I'm grateful for anything she puts out there," Joffs said about Meyer. "I will read whatever she publishes, happily."

::Team Twilight:: Stephenie Meyer has a new book coming out - The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

This is the letter to the fans from Stephenie Meyer's website:

Surprise!

I have a new book coming out. It's called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner Well, it's more of a novella than an actual book—my version of a short story. Actually, this has been a surprise to me, too. The reason why it's a surprise was that I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book. I began this story a long time ago—before Twilight was even released. Back then I was just editing Eclipse, and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writing from Bree's perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn.

This story was something that I worked on off and on for a while, just for fun, in between the times I was writing or editing other Twilight novels. Later, when the concept for The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide came up, I thought that might be a good place for Bree. Her story is a nice complement to Eclipse; it explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew. So I dusted it off and finished it up for placement in the Guide.

At the same time, it came in handy for the Eclipse film. Melissa (Rosenberg, the screenwriter) had a ton of questions about what exactly was going on in Seattle, how Victoria managed things, what Riley was like, etc. I let her read what I had then, and later gave the whole thing to the director, David Slade. David asked if Xavier, Bryce, and Jodelle (Riley, Victoria, and Bree) could read it as well, so all the parties involved would end up having a really strong foundation for their characters before the cameras started rolling. I was pleased that this side of the story would make it into the film and was looking forward to including it in the Guide.

Then I got the news: my "short story" was nearly 200 pages long when typeset. It was too long to fit into the Guide—without ending up with a tome as heavy as the Oxford English Dictionary. My publisher approached me with the idea of releasing the Bree story on its own. One of the major benefits of this plan was that it would be out before the movie, so people would get to know Bree before they saw her in the film. That made sense to me, and we decided to go ahead with it.

There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at www.breetanner.com.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

One other aspect of this release is the plan to give a more important gift to people who really need it. One dollar of each book purchased in the US from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti and Chile and other parts of the world where people are in great need. We're going to have an option online as well, so you can choose to make a donation if you want when you read the story online. I hope you will. I think that we can really help a lot of people with this.

I really hope you all enjoy this story. I had a blast writing it. I'm glad that after all this time cooling her heels in my files, Bree finally gets her chance to shine.

Thanks for all the support,

Steph

::Team Breaking Dawn:: Script writer Melissa Rosenburg talks Breaking Dawn at last!

The Fred Meyer on Bothell Highway was like a beacon for twilighters Friday night, as the store hosted a 'New Moon' midnight DVD release party with special guest Melissa Rosenberg.
For those of you living outside of the 'Twilight' bubble, Rosenberg is the screenwriter for the popular series.
She's so far adapted the three first books into movies, and is already working on the fourth and final installment: 'Breaking Dawn'.

We had a chance to talk to her about her journey:

How do you condense an 800-page book into a two hour movie?

MR: "Very carefully. You start with, and you end with, what is the emotional journey for these characters. That is the most important thing to capture, that is the only thing to capture. Everything else is up for grabs, but you must take these characters on the same emotional journey that they took in the book, and hence take the audience on the same emotional journey that they took in the book and that's the goal, you hope that you achieve that. some people would say I did, some people would say I don't."

Do you get any feedback from the fans when you, for example.. cut certain scenes?

MR: "I have a fan site, and the fans will weigh in and say wow! you've cut too many things out.. or say I've done a fantastic job. They are very kind on my site, there are other sites I know that I don't read, because I can't handle that kind of intensity. You can't make all the fans happy, you try to make as many as possible happy."

How is that going to be a challenge for the last one? ('Breaking Dawn') because as you know, that's the big one.

MR: "It's the big one, it's gonna be a big challenge, and I guarantee you that not all of the fans will be happy, and I guarantee you some of them will be.
You have to give up the ideal of making everybody happy, it's just not gonna happen, but you hope you make the majority happy. Again, for that last book it is about taking that specific character Bella on her journey. It's a big journey, it's a massive change for her, and you hope to realize that."

What did director Chris Weitz bring to 'New Moon' that you think was valuable to the series?
MR: "He was so good. He opened up the franchise. He opened it into this sweeping epic story. Twilight was a very intimate personal movie. it was a small movie, it had almost an independent feel to it. Chris made it into a beautiful spectacle, he really expanded it, expanded the world of it."

Going back to 'Breaking Dawn', how far along are you in the planning, with production coming up pretty soon?

MR: "It's coming up very soon, it's all deep into the discussions and working on the story, and figuring out what it's gonna be... we're deep in the middle of it."

Any word on when it will "officially" be green-lit?

MR: "I don't know, but obviously soon.. vampires aren't supposed to age, so you know."

Can you talk about the fan craze surrounding the main characters Bella and Edward, and how it's carried over to real life for these actors? How do they handle it?

MR: "I don't know how they handle it frankly, it's a lot to have coming at you, I can't even begin to imagine. I have a little bit coming at me and it's almost too much. Can't even fathom what it is like, I hope they get to have a semblance of a real life."

Finally, can you give me one word to describe 'Twilight' fans?

MR: "Passionate.. for sure."
