::Team Twilight:: Fan Fiction Friday

Pssst, need somethin’ to take the edge off? Feelin’ weary? I got just the thing. It’s rumored that Lab Tech Andi’s trippin’ on a sugar high from too much anniversary cake so she’s got some really sweet fics to dish out. Here’s what you need to know: go to the blue door behind the Love Shack, knock the “Wedding March” and the password this week is “Perrine Bruyere”. You’ll want to get there before she crashes and goes into a sugar-induced coma. Be Safe!

With Alice and Jasper vacationing and everyone else getting the house ready for Bella and Edward’s Anniversary party, the lab had become a pretty quiet place. So, when Edward came softly knocking on the lab door in the middle of the week, I jumped a little at the sound.

“What a delight to have you drop by, Edward! What can we do for you?” I asked, stepping aside and gesturing him in.

“Andi, I know you and the authors are busy, so I don’t want to be a bother.” He peeked his head in the door and smiled a little to himself. I wondered what thoughts he was hearing that would make him smile like that.

“Oh Edward, you could never be a bother,” I assured him and walked back towards my desk.

“You know mine and Bella’s anniversary is on Friday. Well, I’ve been looking for a quiet place to work on a new composition that I’m writing for her. Would it be too distracting if I setup a keyboard and worked on it here?” he was smiling even wider to himself now so I could only imagine how loud the authors’ thoughts were about him hanging out here. I laughed a little at his expression.

“Actually, we’ve been quite productive here this week, so it would be wonderful to have you play for us in the lab.” I told him and smiled back. “When would you like to start?”

“I’ll bring the keyboard by later,” then he walked to the door. As he reached for the knob he turned, “Thanks Andi, this is such a big help. By the way, Esme wanted me to ask if it would be alright with you for the authors to attend the party on Friday. You know how she adores them.”

“They’ll love that,” I replied. “Please let her know, they’ll be there and thank you. We’ll see you tonight?”

“Yes, tonight,” he nodded and then was out the door softly closing it behind him.

Now, I was positive that Edward would have rather composed on his grand piano, but the amazingly hi-tech keyboard he walked in with later that evening was impressive and the music he made come out of it was even more so. One by one, I witnessed my authors melt a little as the notes swirled around the room and had to fight a little myself to keep from following suit. The music was a hypnotic, giving me strange visions of white satin, flowers, and twinkling lights on a dance floor.!

Maybe it was time to check the expiration dates on the chemicals in the lab. In any case, this week all my deals contain visions of weddings however, some are a little bittersweet.

My first offering is called “Now and Forever” by Hannah81. In this completed and wonderfully told tale, Bella returns to Seattle after 15 years of living in Phoenix and is soon reunited with her best childhood friend, Alice Cullen. Alice's brother, Edward, made her childhood completely miserable, but what will she think of him as an adult? Well, he’ll have 29 chapters to make it up to her and boy will he ever! There are even a few outtakes to look forward to.

Next, I have “My Brother's Best Friend” by jennlynnfs. Seven years have passed since Edward and Bella last saw each other. They grew up as children and even became good friends. Once they entered high school, Edward became distant and eventually severed all ties with her. Confused and hurt, Bella moved on with her life in Seattle. Through it all, Bella had her older brother Emmett to get past the estrangement. Now, with Edward's imminent return to Seattle to help out with his sister Alice's wedding, Bella can't help wondering what drove away her brother's best friend all those years ago. These characters here are engaging, funny and their tale is not just told from one point of view. It’s complete, at 23 chapters and two outtakes, so it won’t leave you hanging.

Third, I have “Hydraulic Level 5” by Gondolier. This story is not yet complete, but it will be soon. Bella gave her heart to Edward Cullen at the age of four and has loved him every day since. He asked her to marry him after she graduated high school and it was the happiest day of his life. But things are not always as they appear and all too quickly, they find themselves divorced. Seven years later, Edward Cullen has become a famous author of vampire novels, and Bella runs a thriving PR business in Port Angeles, WA and frequently engages in extreme sports with her friends. They’ve been avoiding each other for years, but the upcoming nuptials of Emmett and Rosalie will force them to have to deal with their past. This story is so complex and deep, it will keep you on the edge of your seat to find out how things turn out. Also, once complete, the author plans to compile all the chapters into a PDF document and is currently requesting pictures to illustrate the document. You have until the epilogue to submit and the details are in the author notes of the latest chapter.

Lastly, I give you “Written In The Stars” by EclipseoftheTwilightMoon. In this completed story Bella and Edward have been best friends since the third grade, but it isn’t until their senior year that she realizes she’s in love with him. However, when she tells him so, he wants to just stay friends. Eventually, Bella moves on to another guy, but when she comes back into Edward's life, he finally realizes he loves her too. This is their struggle to find themselves, save their friendship, and fight for what they want. There will be times you just want to strangle these two, but the journey of 44 chapters is very addicting.

::TEAM TWILIGHT:: Limited Edition White Cover Versions of Twilight Series

Little Brown will be releasing special holiday editions of all four Twilight books (paperbacks only) featuring white covers instead of the usual black. I want these. So much. But they won’t be available in the U.S. I might just see if I can ship them across the Atlantic!


Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster Twilight series is to be republished this Christmas with a new white jacket design.

The four limited-edition titles: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, will be published by Atom on 14th October as £7.99 paperbacks, available only in the UK and Ireland, and Little, Brown’s territories including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and India. The white editions will not be available in the US.

The white titles will only be published between October and Christmas 2010, replacing the usual black jackets. The titles will have crimson-edged pages and crimson back covers, with text confined to the spines.

Looks us in the US might have to find a way to get these new Twilight Saga books. You can pre-order them at play.com

::Team Stephenie:: ‘The Host’ Movie Writer/Director’s Other Sci-fi Project: I’m.mortal

Andrew Niccol is a name you might want to tuck away in your memory for future reference. He’s known for writing huge movie hits like The Truman Show and Gattaca (which he also directed). He’s also writing (with Stephenie Meyer’s help) and directing the movie The Host that will bring her best-selling Scifi/Romance to life on the big screen in 2011.

He is the perfect fit for The Host! But he’s also got another exciting project underway that is circulating quite a bit of talk. I’m.mortal has movie and entertainment blogs buzzing with casting rumors and announcements almost in the same way we do with The Twilight Saga. (but we’re a little more obsessive )

Big names like Amanda Seyfried, Justin Timberlake and Cillian Murphy who played the Scarecrow in Batman Begins are coming up as being attached to or finalizing negotiations for I’m.mortal, which Andrew Niccol also wrote and is directing.

Synopsis via IMDb.com: In the not-too-distant future the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. A poor young man who comes into a fortune of time, though too late to help his mother from dying. I’m.mortal, like The Host, is slated for release in 2011, however, it is likely that I’m.mortal will make it to theaters earlier than The Host considering the hectic schedule Stephenie Meyer will continue to be under while producing Breaking Dawn. But seeing the latest project from Andrew Niccol beforehand will give us a great chance to get even more of a feel for his unique style!
